New Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 joins updated A 35 and A 45 S

August 03, 2023

Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit played host to the unveiling of the latest lineup of vehicles from Mercedes-Benz South Africa. The stars on show included a refreshed A 35 AMG 4MATIC, A 45 AMG 4MATIC+, and the GLB 35 4MATIC. We had a front-row driver’s seat for all of them, and this is what you can expect.

A 35 AMG 4MATIC

Still available in hatchback and saloon options, the Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC is the entry point to the AMG performance lineup. Upon returning from its trip from the surgeon's office, both the AMG A 35 and the A 45 S had a revised set of headlamps and taillights, a new round badge sporting the AMG emblem, which replaces the Mercedes-Benz star. Minor tweaks have been made to the bumpers, and one of the most notable upgrades is the new set of black alloy wheels on both models.

Mercedes-Benz’s 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is in service in the A 35, working in conjunction with the brand’s 48-volt auxiliary power system which can contribute an additional 10 kW to the internal combustion engine’s 225 kW. Maximum torque is 400 Nm through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.

A 45 AMG 4MATIC+

As the big brother to its A35 sibling, the A 45 S 4MATIC+ is equipped with the same motor, however, in this application everything has been increased to 310 kW and 500 Nm, catapulting it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. The Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit proved to be the perfect playground for this performance hatch, it promises driving enthusiasts an unforgettable experience on track days. It’s quick and nimble and approaches every bend with child-like enthusiasm.

GLB 35 4MATIC

Making its grand debut was the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC, a limited edition vehicle with only 35 units available. Its distinctive features, such as 21-inch matt black wheels, AMG Night pack, and exclusive colour options, make it distinguishable. Inside, the GLB 35 boasts the customary AMG steering wheel, red seat belts, and red stitching, exuding sporty elegance.

Overall, Mercedes-Benz continues to impress with its dedication to delivering cutting-edge technology and stonking performance. Whether you're a thrill-seeking track enthusiast or a connoisseur of luxury, the new range of Mercedes-Benz vehicles promises to delight and ignite your passion for driving. So, if you're enticed by the allure of these remarkable machines, don't hesitate to secure your spot among the few who can call the GLB 35 4MATIC their own.
