Haval H6 GT

October 21, 2022

Haval H6 GT

I was fortunate enough to test the Haval H6 GT on launch and I can comment that it is a game changer in the SA market.

The striking looks alone would make one want to buy it

So what is it.

Basically it’s a Haval H6 4WD Super Lux which went to the gym and had a bit of plastic surgery done.

It’s powered by a 2.0 petrol turbo 4 cylinder producing a respectable 155kW and 325Nm which includes an overboost function which produces an additional 5kW and 5Nm.

There is only one gearbox option available for the GT which is a 7-speed dual-clutch auto.

Fuel consumption is claimed at 8.4L/100km which is not bad, but I must add I managed around 10L/100km in urban driving which is still not bad considering the power figures and the fact that it is not a small vehicle.

The drive is not what you would expect and that I not a bad thing. One would guess that the H6 GT would have harsh and firm suspension, but its not like that at all. It might be firmer than the normal H6 but its really a comfortable setup.

In general it drives well, steering is compliant and overall it’s a comfortable vehicle.

The sloping roofline also does not intrude into the cabin to much, which is not the case with other Coupe SUV’s in general.

As for tech, there are so many to mention. In short you get everything you can think of including the kitchen sink. This is where the Chinese vehicles has the upper hand in the market. They are well priced and packed with tech, which one would normally have to pay extra for.

But here’s the thing, It’s priced around R40k more than the equivalent H6 4WD Super Lux and that you would nee to consider. The only difference is the styling of the H6 GT and the fact that the GT has a Race Mode function.

So if looks are the deciding factor for you, you would love the H6 GT, just note that the normal H6 is the same vehicle under the skin.

Pricing and Warranty

Priced at R629,950 *Pricing as of October 2022

5-year/100 000 km Warranty

5-year/60 000 km Service Plan

So will I buy one ?

100% yes, I love the styling, the build quality, and the bang for buck pricing.

It’s a real head turner.
