2022 Range Rover arriving soon!

May 26, 2022

The New Range Rover will touch down on dealership floors as of June/July this year. Following the announcement of the model’s arrival made in January, Land Rover South Africa has now confirmed models in the line-up as well as its pricing.

So, how many models will there be in the line-up? You will have a choice between 19 derivatives! However, your options don’t end at 19. You will still be able to customize your new Rover to the max via the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division.

Now, let’s talk price. Hold on to your seat for this one. The entry-level Range Rover D350 HSE Standard Wheelbase comes in with a price tag of R2,861,000. Autobiography models begin from R3,310,000, while First Edition models (exclusively available in the first year of release only) start from R3,434,000. SV models start from R3,857,000 going up to R4,343,000. All new Range Rover models are accompanied by a standard 5-year/100,000 km Land Rover Care Warranty and Maintenance Plan. The fifth-generation Rover will offer three seating options which range between a four-seater, five-seater, and a seven-seater.

Powering the new Range Rover

Powering the new Rovers are three engines in the range. There’s a six- and eight-cylinder engine and there’s the new Extended Range Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). For the first time, the Range Rover will be hosting a new 4.4-litre V8 engine. It pushes out maximum power of 390 kW and maximum torque of 750 Nm. With Dynamic Launch engaged, the new Rover’s acceleration of 0-100 km/h takes place in 4.6 seconds, and it reaches a maximum speed of 250 km/h.

As for diesel engines in the range, the D350 3.0-litre straight-six turbodiesel pushes out maximum power of 257 kW and maximum torque of 700 Nm. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes place in 6.1 seconds.

As for the new Extended Range P510e PHEV, a 375 kW in-line six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine has been paired with a 38.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 105 kW electric motor. The combination of these allows for a driving range of 113 km of “near-silent” pure-electric driving. Along with instantaneous electric torque, the new P510e accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.
